A utility purse contains basically all emergency or first aid items that will serve you well in that difficult situation which may suddenly creep up.
We never plan for emergencies, but these always come up when we least expect. You may suddenly find yourself lost the woods, or worse, you might get bitten by a snake and would require immediate first aid treatment before accessing medical help. In such situations, it would be dangerous, fatal even, not to have a means if helping or treating yourself, especially when medical attention is still far away. This is where your utility purse comes in handy.
What Should be in Your Utility Purse
There are no specific items that should go in your utility purse. However, you should carry the basic survival and first aid items, plus a few others you feel you might need. While selecting items though, you should include as few items as is possible and only the smaller versions of these items so they can fit into your utility purse.
Here are Some Possible Items to Include in Your Utility Purse:
- Pain killers and other medications you might need.
- A needle and thread
- A flash light and batteries
- A thin rope
- A multitool
- A candle
- A whistle
- Emergency contact information
- A pen and a sheet of paper
- Safety pins
- Duct tape
- A phone
- A lighter
- A weapon (a pepper spray or any other weapon not requiring a permit and small enough to fit in to your purse)
Your utility purse can be large or small enough to fit into your main bag. Whichever you decide to go for, it should contain your basic emergency or survival tools and be comfortable for you.
